Ship 39 includes an updated, more durable heat shield to address previous reentry issues, while the common dome has been modified to increase liquid methane storage. The mission aims to test the new hardware’s performance, specifically looking at the Raptor 3 engine, and potentially further refining the “tower catch” capabilities for the Super Heavy booster.
