Starship 12 will debut the upgraded Version 3 (V3) vehicle, featuring “Booster 19” and “Ship 39”.
Flight 12 introduces Starship V3, which features redesigned, more powerful engines and improved structure for better mass efficiency and reusability.
This mission focuses on testing enhanced Raptor 3 engines, improved thermal protection, and greater propellant capacity, with launch operations occurring from Starbase, Texas.
Ship 39 includes an updated, more durable heat shield to address previous reentry issues, while the common dome has been modified to increase liquid methane storage.
The mission aims to test the new hardware’s performance, specifically looking at the Raptor 3 engine, and potentially further refining the “tower catch” capabilities for the Super Heavy booster.
